An Update from the Mayor and Commission

Saturday, August 31, 2019 – 7 pm

The latest forecast shows Hurricane Dorian continuing on a path that will keep its center offshore for the east coast of Florida. As shown in the image to the right, Broward County is currently outside the forecast cone for a direct hit and Tamarac is NOT under a tropical storm watch at this time.

With a major hurricane passing just offshore early next week, we need to remain vigilant. The potential for heavy wind and rain in Broward County remain, and the City continues to track the storm’s progress. More storm information is available at www.nhc.noaa.gov, including an interactive map where you can track the storm’s forecast cone, wind watches and warnings and more.

As a reminder, canals have been lowered in Tamarac, and the City’s stormwater division is on standby monitoring their levels.  For information on flood control and what to expect in your neighborhood when it rains, visit https://www.sfwmd.gov/our-work/flood-control.
