An Update from the Mayor and Commission:
Saturday, August 31, 2019 – 10:20 am
The latest forecast shows Hurricane Dorian turning slightly north and keeps its center offshore for the east coast of Florida. It’s important to remember that small changes to the forecast will mean big differences in impacts experienced in different areas, so we need to be prepared.
Florida will have a major hurricane just offshore early next week, and we still face the potential for destructive winds, significant flooding and life-threatening storm surge. The likelihood remains for a prolonged period of hazardous conditions to last for a couple of days.
As previously announced, parks facilities close today at 1 pm and garbage collection will be suspended from September 1 – 3.
The City continues to monitor the storm and will provide updates as information becomes available.
