Effective today, Broward County requires retail stores and restaurants to post signs outlining social distancing and facial covering requirements through Emergency Order 20-17. Also, facilities such as bowling alleys, arcades and indoor movie theaters can open in Broward County, with restrictions, according to Emergency Order 20-15. Pari-mutuel facilities were allowed to reopen on June 12 through Emergency Order 20-16. Tamarac will offer swim classes at the Caporella Aquatic Complex this summer starting June 29. Registration is now open. All sessions will offer eight classes and serve 2 – 3 students. The cost is $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents. To register, visit www.Tamarac.org/Parks and click “On-line Activity Registration” in the menu on the left side of the screen. The City will host a household hazardous waste (HHW) event from 9 am - 2 pm on Saturday, June 27, at the Public Services Complex, 6011 Nob Hill Rd., enabling people to dispose of HHW and old electronics responsibly. Residents of Tamarac or the following participating cities can participate with proof of residency: Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Lauderdale Lakes, North Lauderdale, Parkland and Pompano Beach. Materials for drop off should be placed in car trunks or in the bed of pickup trucks. Participants should remain in their vehicles with windows up during the drop off. Broward County Public Schools is hosting a very important School Board Workshop tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16, at 10 am. It will include discussions about reopening plans for the 2020-21 school year. Here is the link to watch: https://www.browardschools.com/Page/35670.

Broward College is offering the following instructor-led, online continuing education classes for free to Tamarac residents. Students who successfully complete these courses will earn certificates of completion. For more info or to register, email gklonari@broward.edu.

Lean Six Sigma - White Belt: This 2-day course introduces the basics of the Lean Six Sigma methodology (process improvement and business excellence) practiced by many Fortune 500 corporations and their suppliers. Course dates: June 22-23 from 1:30 -5 pm, or July 13-14 from 1:30 -5 pm.

Microsoft Excel: Whether you have used MS Excel before or are completely new to the program, this 2-day course is designed to teach you the program’s features so you can use it like a pro. Space is limited. Course dates: June 25-26 from 9 am-12:30 pm, or July 13-14 from 9 am-12:30 pm.
