[ARCHIVED] REGISTRATION OPEN FOR THE 43RD ANNUAL TAMARAC TURKEY TROT

TAMARAC, Fla. (October 31, 2023) – Registration is open for one of South Florida’s favorite Thanksgiving Day traditions: The 43rd Annual Tamarac Turkey Trot 5K Race! The race kicks off Thursday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 a.m., from Tamarac City Hall, 7525 NW 88th Ave.

Since its inception in 1980, this Thanksgiving morning race has been a tradition for Tamarac residents and neighbors throughout South Florida. Even during the

COVID-19 pandemic, the City adapted to keep the pace with a virtual race.

“In 2020, we hosted the 40th Annual Turkey Trot virtually for health and safety reasons. In 2021, if you thought you were seeing double, you’re right. We hosted the 40th Annual “in-person” Turkey Trot that year, and in 2022, we held the 41st Annual Turkey Trot,” explained Melissa Petron, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. “This year, we’re resuming the race’s original yearly sequence with the 43rd Annual Tamarac Turkey Trot. This is one of Tamarac’s largest annual events, and we look forward to seeing our returning runners and the many new faces joining us this year.”

Registration is open to runners, walkers and wheelchair users of all ages. The first 2,000 registrants will receive a 2023 commemorative Tamarac Turkey Trot t-shirt. All attendees wearing a race bib who complete the 5K will receive a medal. Trophies will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers and age group winners.

Online registration is available at www.RunSignUp.com/TamaracTurkeyTrot until noon Wednesday, Nov. 22, or until all slots are filled. Entry fees are $30 until Nov. 15 and $35 from Nov.16-22. Same-day race registration will be unavailable.
