TAMARAC COMMISSIONER ELECTED TO SOLID WASTE & RECYCLABLE MATERIALS PROCESSING AUTHORITY EXEC. BOARD

(October 25, 2023) – Commissioner Elvin Villalobos, City of Tamarac, District 3, was elected to the Solid Waste Disposal and Recyclable Materials Processing Authority of Broward County’s Executive Board during the Oct. 11 Meeting.

 

As an Executive Board Member, Villalobos will represent medium-sized municipalities within Broward County, including Tamarac. Villalobos’ Executive Board election followed a majority vote by fellow medium-sized Cities’ Representatives. Twenty-eight municipalities, representing 83% of Broward County’s population, will serve on the Authority’s Governing Board.

 

The purpose of the Authority’s Governing Board is to develop and implement a long-term, environmentally sustainable, transparent, innovative and economically efficient plan and approach to disposal, reduction, recycling and reuse of waste generated in Broward County. In this role Villalobos’ responsibilities will include attending all meetings of the Authority’s Governing Board, including Executive Board meetings, voting on Authority business on behalf of medium-sized municipalities in Broward County, and ensuring that all Authority business and actions are communicated to the City of Tamarac.

 

Villalobos was appointed to the Solid Waste Disposal and Recyclable Materials Processing Authority of Broward County following a 5 to 0 consensus by the Tamarac City Commission on Aug. 23 during the City of Tamarac’s Regular City Commission Meeting.
