TAMARAC, Fla. (September 7, 2023) – Elvin Villalobos, the City of Tamarac’s District 3 Commissioner will serve as the City’s representative on the newly established Solid Waste Disposal and Recyclable Materials Processing Authority of Broward County, Florida. Villalobos was appointed following a 5 to 0 consensus by the Tamarac City Commission during the Aug. 23 Regular City Commission Meeting.
The purpose of the Authority Governing Board is to develop and implement a long-term, environmentally sustainable, transparent, innovative and economically efficient plan and approach to disposal, reduction, recycling and reuse of waste generated in Broward County. In this role Villalobos’ responsibilities will include attending all meetings of the Authority Governing Board, voting on Authority business on Tamarac’s behalf, and ensuring that all Authority business and actions are communicated to the City of Tamarac. Michelle J. Gomez, Mayor of Tamarac, will serve as the alternate appointee.
A total of 28 municipalities, representing 83% of Broward County’s population will serve on the board.
