(July 17, 2023) - The City of Tamarac will celebrate its 60th Incorporation Anniversary Wednesday, July 19, during the Tamarac Shines Bright Like A Diamond 60th Anniversary Bash. The City will commemorate this milestone by honoring five impactful residents whose vision and dedication helped shape Tamarac into today’s vibrant and thriving “City For Your Life.”

The public is invited to the birthday bash at the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W Commercial Blvd. Tamarac’s anniversary celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. It will include reflections of Tamarac’s past, live musical entertainment by the Fabulons, dancing and of course birthday cake. Pre-registration is required for this free community event.

Keeping with tradition, the Tamarac Public Art Committee will recognize this milestone with a commemorative public art piece. “One Love,” a digital art piece designed by DJ Chery, will make its public debut during the 60th Anniversary Bash. Chery submitted “One Love” in response to the Public Art Committee’s call for local artists by the Art Committee. “One Love” was selected by the Tamarac City Commission out of five finalists entries submitted by other competing artists.

Leading up to the 60th Anniversary, The City of Tamarac hosted several community activities. The countdown to Tamarac’s birthday celebration began May 20, with the One Tamarac Multicultural Festival, the Dive-in Movie on June 23, the annual All-American Celebration on July 4 and the Party Like It’s 1963 Seniors Program Dance on July 12. The city-wide celebration will conclude with Vintage Family Fun Day at Mainlands Park, on Saturday, Sept. 23.
