Tamarac, Fla. (May 23, 2023) – During the City of Tamarac’s Regular Commission Meeting on May 10, Commissioner Elvin Villalobos, District 3, was appointed to serve on the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) and Commissioner Morey Wright, Jr., District 2, was appointed to serve on the Independent Auditor Selection Committee. Both appointments were made through consensus of the Tamarac City Commission.
Villalobos’ Affordable Housing Advisory Committee membership complies with Tamarac’s State Housing Initiative Partnership Program (SHIP) eligibility requirement. As a committee member, Villalobos is responsible for advising the City Commission on matters related to monetary and non-monetary incentive strategies for the Affordable Housing Incentive Plan, which provides for the housing needs of citizens. Villalobos must participate in the AHAC’s annual meeting and the biannual regional workshops. The AHAC committee also produces an annual report.
Wright will serve as Chairperson of Tamarac’s Independent Auditor Selection Committee. The selection committee is made up of governmental finance personnel from neighboring cities. Through a request for proposal (RFP) process, the Independent Auditor Selection Committee will choose Tamarac’s new auditors for FY24. The auditing firm selected through this process will conduct Tamarac’s annual financial audit, as required by Florida law. The RFP process is expected to begin in June.
