[ARCHIVED] CITY OF TAMARAC’S 60TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION KICKS-OFF DURING ANNUAL ONE TAMARAC EVENT

(May 11, 2023) – The City of Tamarac is pleased to announce the celebration of its 60th incorporation anniversary during the annual One Tamarac Multicultural Festival, featuring radio personality Shelby Rushin as hostess, along with main stage performances by Paul Anthony and The Reggae Souljahs and the Tomasito Cruz Band, plus the City’s very first laser light show!

The event will take place Saturday, May 20, 5 – 9 p.m., at Tamarac Sports Complex, 9901 NW 77th St. A celebration of Tamarac’s past, present and future, this event is a nod to the many forms of diversity reflected in the people of Tamarac. Guests will enjoy a highly anticipated day of educational fun through cultural music and dance performances, drummers, exhibits, and activities for children and families. Festivalgoers also will have photo opportunities with men and women dressed in authentic cultural apparel. They can treat their taste buds to culinary delights from around the world with cuisine from 15 on-site food trucks. 

The opening musical act at this special edition of One Tamarac is international recording artist, Paul Anthony and The Reggae Souljahs. The headliner will be Grammy Award-winning Master Percussionist, singer, songwriter and producer Tomasito Cruz and the Tomasito Cruz Band. This year’s event will showcase an array of cultures and customs, with performances by Fushu Daiko Japanese Taiko, SASA African Dance Theater, Drake Irish Dance, Ameyal Mexican Cultural Academy and the Polynesian Cultural Association. 

To celebrate Tamarac’s 60th year, guests will take a look at the City’s past through learning activities facilitated by the Tamarac Historical Society. The event will conclude with a spectacular laser light show, a first in the City of Tamarac. 

Established in 2018, the One Tamarac Multicultural Festival was created to showcase Tamarac’s diversity, inclusivity and commitment to highlighting various identities within the community. In past years, One Tamarac attracted nearly 3,000 guests.

Event parking is limited. The City will provide free continuous shuttles from Tamarac City Hall, 7525 NW 88th Ave., and the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Blvd., between 3:45 - 7:30 p.m. Shuttle service will resume following the laser light show.
