Tamarac, Fla. (April 20, 2022) – In celebration of Earth Day, Tamarac’s Vice Mayor, Mike Gelin, is partnering with Walmart Neighborhood Marketplace to host a tree planting event, Friday, April 22, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at Tamarac’s Swim Central Annex Park, 5800 NW 94th Ave.
Gelin, with the help of City of Tamarac staff, will plant a Mahogany tree, a species native to South Florida. Immediately following the tree planting, local children will participate in a special flowerpot-painting activity. Kids in attendance will also receive seedlings to take home, giving them an opportunity to learn about seed germination through hands-on exploration. The event also includes, Earth Day education, music by DJ Danny and an appearance by Tamarac Fire Rescue.
