TAMARAC TO KICK-OFF 2021 INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND WITH ANNUAL ALL-AMERICAN CELEBRATION, FRIDAY, JULY 2
Tamarac, FL (June 28, 2021) – After a year off due to the pandemic, the City of Tamarac will mark its early start to the 2021 Independence Day weekend with the return of its annual All-American Celebration, Friday, July 2, at 7 p.m., at Tamarac Sports Complex.
“We’re excited to jumpstart this year’s July 4th weekend, here in Tamarac,” said Greg Warner, the City of Tamarac’s Parks and Recreation Director. “We began planning once public health officials gave the go ahead for gatherings like this one; but the challenge of that timeline was finding pyrotechnicians who could accommodate us on July 4th with limited notice. Needless to say, we had no luck; but instead of a second year without our local Independence Day Celebration, we chose to hold our community’s event two days early.”
Fireworks, family fun and food are all slated for this festive evening of American patriotism, featuring a soulful live performance by the Valerie Tyson Band. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the view of the mainstage and the illuminated night sky, while indulging in a flavorful variety of treats from area food trucks at this free event. Activities for kids include arts and crafts, lawn games, face painting and more. The highly anticipated fireworks display will commence promptly at 9 p.m.
From 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., representatives from the Department of Health will also be present to administer the first dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to interested guests, ages 12 and older. All guests receiving vaccinations during the event will receive $10 grocery store gift cards. Instructions for receiving second vaccine doses also will be provided.
For the safety of all event guests, prohibited items upon entry include personal fireworks, sparklers, tents, large bags, grills, alcohol, glass bottles and pets.
Tamarac Sports Complex is located at 9901 NW 77th St., Tamarac, FL. On-site parking is limited. Additional parking is available at City Hall, located at 7525 NW 88th Ave. and Tamarac Community Center, located at 8601 West Commercial Blvd. Complimentary roundtrip shuttle service will be available between the Sports Complex and both remote parking sites for the duration of the event, with a brief pause during the fireworks display.
