The Building Department enforces the Florida Building Code and related regulations, promoting safe standards to the community. We provide plan review, inspections, floodplain information and education to residents, business owners, architects, engineers, developers and contractors. The Department continually works to improve procedures to best serve our customers.

City buildings will be closed to the public in response to the Coronavirus pandemic beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.Building Department employees are working, and available by phone at 954-597-3420, and via email at permit@tamarac.org, during normal business hours.
We encourage you to you visit our website at www.Tamarac.org/building and use our online services such as: submit permits on line, view plan review comments, pay permit fees and schedule inspections when-ever possible.
The 2020 Florida Building Code goes into effect December 31st at midnight.
All permits with a 21- prefix must comply to the 2020 FBC, this includes 2020 FBC code references on NOA's and product approvals.

“Please be advised that during this COVID pandemic, inspection procedures are required to follow the CDC guidelines. All inspectors and on site contractors are required to wear a facemasks during the inspections, and maintain safe distancing. Additionally, any unnecessary personnel should stay away from the inspection area. Failure to follow these protocols will require our inspectors to deny the inspection and the contractor will need to reschedule. These rules are in place to protect the contractor, the residents and our inspectors. “
