Welcome to the City of Tamarac. This is one of the most exciting times for achievement and progress in the Citys 40-year history. Our City is vibrant with an excellent quality of life. The City is also moving forward faster than ever through a partnership between a visionary City Commission, a caring and involved citizenry and a dedicated and professional City workforce.

National and regional businesses such as Convergys, Culligan Water Bottling Company and City Furniture are making Tamarac their new corporate home, bringing millions of dollars in investment and hundreds of new jobs.

We have one of the lowest crime rates of any city in Broward County.

The White House designated Tamarac a "Millennium Community", and the U.S. Conference of Mayors named us one of Americas most livable cities through its "City Livability Award" program.

We are starting the new millennium with a 30,000-sq. ft. Community Center, 125-miles of newly paved streets, a new $6.2 million library and two new schools. Several new parks are under construction.

New housing programs make it easier than ever to buy or rehabilitate a home in Tamarac.

Tamarac has progressive leadership through a City Commission-City Manager form of government. The Citys approximately 59,000 citizens reside in four districts that elect one City Commissioner each. Our Mayor is elected at-large.

Tamarac is a City that works! Our citizens are involved. There is a unique sense of community here. They serve on more than a dozen volunteer boards and committees that report to our City Commission. They coach youth and adult sports in the 11-league Tamarac Athletic Federation. They cruise our streets as Citizen Observer Patrols (COPS) to support the law enforcement work of the Broward Sheriffs Office. And, they volunteer at desks throughout the City government.
