Already a Green City

The City of Tamarac is already a green city. The City has been proactive in ensuring that the Tamarac of today can sustain itself tomorrow and farther into the future. The City currently employs a host of measures that are aimed at sustainability and conservation.

Resolutions
Resolution NO. R-2007-191 (Pursue measures to become a “Green Local Government”)
Park Sites
- Approximately 327.3 acres of parks, open space, and recreational sites. This represents nearly 5.5 acres per 1,000 people based on the 2007 population of 59,949
- Bicycle security at public amenities
- Energy efficient lighting and controls at outdoor facilities
- Geothermal pool heaters to reduce energy consumption and gas emissions
- Canal water used for irrigation of the City’s two (2) newest park development projects
