WATER FACTS

The water on the earth today is the same as the water that was here when the Earth was formed and when the dinosaurs lived.

We keep using the same water over and
over and over.

How much of the Earth's water is fresh?
About 3% of the Earth's
water is fresh, and about three-fourth of that is in the Arctic icecaps
and glaciers.

Less than 1 percent of all the water on earth is available or clean enough to drink. The rest is salty or frozen

Every person in America uses about 160 gallons of water a day.
2/3 of the water your family uses is used in the bathroom.
You use 2 gallons of water to brush your teeth (unless you turn off the faucet while you brush).

The Tamarac water treatment plant produces over
6 million gallons of drinking water each day.

How much water do living things contain?
A human body contains about 65% water. An elephant contains about 70% water.
A chicken contains about 75% water. A potato contains about 80% water.
A tomato contains about 95%. A pineapple contains about 80% water.

Our Tamarac water treatment, water quality laboratory collects over 6,000 distribution system and treatment plant samples each year and performs more than 72,000 analyses! This ensures that we have safe, quality water for use in our homes.
