MISSION:

Waste Collection Truck

To promote recycling of certain solid waste materials to reduce landfill dependency as well as maintain low disposal cost for residents.

SOLID WASTE - BULK PICKUP :

Household garbage is limited to not more than
two (2) garbage cans and/or garbage bags, 32 gallons or smaller
and 40 pounds or less. All garbage must be in garbage bags or
bags – loose material will not be collected.

Bulk Trash is collected weekly (second trash day of the week) and includes household items such as couches, chairs, mattresses, tables, appliances, carpeting, tree limbs, palm fronds, etc. Tree trimmings, branches, lumber, carpeting, and metal poles must be cut into sections not to exceed 4 feet in length and tied in bundles of 40 pounds or less.

Construction material (roof shingles, tiles, remodeling or construction debris, sheetrock, concrete, brickwork, etc.) will not be collected with bulk and the resident is responsible for legal disposal.

Also any “commercially generated” waste will not be collected. Examples include yard waste or debris left by a landscaping service, contractor, electrician, etc. This type of material should be removed by the contractor and disposed of in a legal and responsible manner.

Here is a complete breakdown of recyclable materials:

Plastic, Aluminum, & Glass
· Glass food & beverage containers (Clear, green and brown glass containers only);
· Plastic containers (types #1& #2);
· Polycoated gabletop containers and aseptic packages (juice boxes, milk cartons, etc.);

Newspaper, Cardboard, and Mixed Paper
· Corrugated cardboard;
· Newspapers and inserts;
· Phone Books
· Mixed paper (magazines, catalogs, office paper, junk mail, and chipboard (cereal boxes for example). Newspaper, Cardboard, and Mixed Paper should be separated from other recyclables by bundling with string, using paper bags, or a separate container.

Here are some general guidelines to follow for recycling:

1. Place recyclables curbside before 7:00 a.m. the day of collection

2. All cans, glass, and plastic containers can be placed in the recycling bin together; please DO NOT use plastic  bags.

3. Newspapers and Mixed Paper should be put in a brown paper bag or tied and place in a recycling bin. Place other  recyclables loose in the bin.

4. All corrugated cardboard must be broken down, folded, or cut into the same size as newspapers.

5. Multi-family recycling should be separated into bins for paper (newspaper and mixed paper) and all other  commingled recycling (glass, plastic, and metal). The Public Works Department can provide stickers to help  residents tell the bins apart.

6. Garbage in recycling bins (single family and multi-family) can cause problems when the material is processed.   Please avoid placing household garbage, and non-recyclable materials such as styrofoam cups, plastic plates and utensils, plastic bags, and any other plastic not labeled #1 or #2 into your recycling bins.

7. Total weight of each container, bag or bundle must be limited to 40 lbs.;

8. Regular garbage will be collected separately, with a different truck;

9. If you need a recycling bin or have other questions regarding recycling or solid waste,
    please call Public Works at 954-597-3700.
