SOCIAL SERVICES

Tamarac Social Services operates as an extension of the Parks and Recreation Department. Social Services provides assistance to residents in the City who have special needs. Social Services provides many services including information & referral, as well as, transportation services.

The Office of Social Services is located in the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Boulevard.

FINANCIAL COUNSELING

Do you need to learn how to manage your finances? Learn how to budget or use online banking during your one-on-one counseling session with a financial specialist. Also get assistance with applying for federal programs such as Medicaid, Food Stamps and Cash Assistance. Free for Tamarac residents. Please call 954-720-2485 to set up your sessions. By appointment only. In partnership with CareSource, Inc., a non-profit service agency.

FREE HEARING SCREENINGS

Usually the first Wednesday of each month, at the Community Center 9:00-10:45 a.m. Please note that the hearing screenings will be cancelled for the months of August and September 2011.

INFORMATION AND REFERRAL

You may call the Information and Referral Specialist anytime you need information on Social Services programs that may be available in Broward County at (954) 597-3643.

In addition, there is a support group for those who have lost a love one. Every Monday at the Tamarac Community Center 10:00-11:30 a.m.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

The City of Tamarac has a transportation program in place for residents with no other means of transportation. Transportation is provided to doctor's visits within the Tamarac city limits and transportation for grocery shopping/marketing is also available. Program is fee based.
