Health and Medical Screenings and Services

All services are offered at the Tamarac Community Center unless otherwise noted.

Chronic Disease Self Management Program

Do you suffer from a chronic disease? Classes are 2.5 hours, once a week over a six week period. Participants who suffer from or who are caregivers to those with chronic diseases are invited. Light refreshments will be served at each class. Program is in partnership with the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Broward County. Space is limited. Please call 954-597-3642 to register.


Lower Your Prescription Costs

Start saving today with the City of Tamarac Prescription Discount Card Program. Average savings of 20%, free enrollment, coverage for all family members, and no income or age requirements. Please call Social Services at 954-597-3642 for locations.


Osteoporosis Screenings

1st Monday of the month
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Blood Pressure Screenings

Our blood pressure volunteer has left so until further notice we will not have the blood pressure screenings at the Tamarac Community Center. You can visit a local Walgreens or any Fire Department in Tamarac will also assist you.

Center for Hearing and Communication

3rd Wednesday of each month
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Provides amplified phones and TDDs free of charge to residents of the State of Florida who are deaf and/or hard of hearing. Please call Social Services at 954-597-3642 for any questions.


SHINE

Please call the Area Agency on Aging and Disability Resource Center to speak to a SHINE counselor at 954-745-9779 if you have any questions on your Medicare/Medicaid insurance programs.


Mammovan

Call 954-597-3642 to schedule your appointment. 
Mobile Mammography Screening provided by North Broward Hospital District. 
Most insurance is accepted.  If insurance is unavailable, there will be a $75 fee to cover the cost. A referral is recommended. No HMO taken.


Free Eyeglass Repair Program

Get free help reparing your eyeglasses including screw and nose replacements, minor frame and nose pad adjustments. No appointment necessary. Please visit every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center.


Senior Social

Every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Enjoy bagels and coffee and an educational lecture by various medical speakers.


Lunch

Served at 11:30 AM for seniors 60 and older. Suggested donation is $2.  Provided by Broward Meals on Wheels.  Must reserve a meal no later than noon the day prior by calling Patrick Massaquoi at 954-724-2544 between 9:30 AM and 12:30 PM.
