The City of Tamarac provides a comprehensive program of health and social services. An Information and Referral specialist gives information and makes referrals to agencies which can provide direct services for problems and concerns related to social security, housing, long-term care, nursing homes or retirement homes, Alzheimer care and assistance, or health insurance.
For those unable to come into the office for an appointment, home outreach visits can be arranged. A Veterans Advisor and Consumer Affairs Advisors are also available.
Health Services, such as hearing screenings, mammogram screenings, and blood pressure screenings are also offered.
The nutrition program, administered by Broward Meals on Wheels, is a federally funded program that provides a hot, well-balanced lunch for seniors and their spouses, ages 60 and up, Monday through Friday at the Community Center. Participation is by reservation with the site coordinator. To register, call Patrick at (954) 724-2544.
Tamarac Social Services operates as an extension of the Parks and Recreation Department. The Office of Social Services is located in the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Boulevard.
