Schedule Changes

The Veterans' Advisor will be cancelled for Friday, 1/27/12.

The Alzheimer support group will not meet on Wednesday, February 1st.

Work on the Caporella Aquatic Center pool is scheduled to start Thursday, 1/19/12 and may continue until January 31st.  

Please make note of the following:·      

  • The last scheduled Water Aerobics class is Wednesday, 1/18.  No other classes will be offered until the pool work is done.    
  • Senior Program Water Arthritis classes are canceled during this time.
  • Saturday swim lessons are postponed.

Make note of these Community Garage Sale dates for 2012: March 3, 2012, August 25, 2012, and December 1, 2012

 

Tamarac Community Farmer's Market - Now Open every Sunday - New Location - Veterans's Park

The Tamarac Community Farmer's Market will be open at Veterans' Park each Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The market features organic and local produce. We look forward to seeing you there!

2011 Community Impact Grant

The Home Depot Foundation has awarded Tamarac limited funds for the purchase of supplies that will assist you with addressing code violations such as painting of driveways and other small projects.  Program begins July 1, 2011 and ends December 30, 2011. First come, first serve basis-limited funds. Financial application with demonstrated financial hardship required. Call 954-597-3626 to see if you are eligible. Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department Re-Accredited

The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) has announced that the City of Tamarac was reaccredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) this year. This distinguished accomplishment was announced during the NRPA 2010 Congress and Exposition in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Tamarac has been accredited by CAPRA since 2005, and is one of only 90 agencies (our of over 9,000) in the U.S. with this accreditation status.  Please click here to view the full press release.
 

Community Center Closed on Sundays; All City Parks Closed on Mondays

Effective October 1, 2010,  the Tamarac Community Center will be closed on Sundays. In addition, all City parks will be closed on Mondays beginning Monday, October 4th. Please make note of these schedule changes. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Tamarac Parks and Recreation Receives Statewide Recognition

The City of Tamarac's Parks and Recreation Department has been awarded two statewide awards by the Florida Recreation and Park Association (FRPA), a statewide non-profit organization representing local government parks and recreation interests in the State of Florida. The two awards  include the Media Excellence award in the Audio Visual/Electronic Media category for the department DVD, and the second award is the "It Starts in Parks" award. Tamarac Named 2010 Playful City USA!

City of Tamarac Wins "Playful City USA" Award

The Parks and Recreation Department recently submitted an application to the Non-Profit Organization, KaBoom!, to become a “Playful City USA”. On August 18th it became official! The City of Tamarac became one of 118 cities and towns across the country to earn the recognition as 2010 Playful City USA. Playful City USA is a national recognition program honoring cities and towns determined to prioritize play and ensure that children are healthy by providing the time and space for play. Tamarac Parks and Recreation Wins Prestigious Agency Excellence Award

The Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department has been selected as the 2008 Florida Recreation and Park Association (FRPA) Agency Excellence Award winner. This is a very prestigious honor as only one agency is selected from our population category (35,000-75,000) throughout the entire State.  Staff will receive the award at the FRPA Annual Conference in Orlando this week. All staff should be very proud! Their hard work and effort to make the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department one of the best in the State has secured this award for the department.  Congratulations!
