The Mission of the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department

To provide safe, fun and lifelong leisure activities to enhance quality of life with deverse programs and faciltiies for the residents of Tamarac and to meeting their cultural, social, physical wellness and recreation needs.

The Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department is an officially accredited agency. This designation is awarded by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).

The National Accreditation process requires park and recreation agencies to respond to 155 standards which represent elements of effective and efficient parks and recreation operations. In order to be accredited, agencies must meet all fundamental standards, plus 80% of the other standards.

National accreditation is evidence of the department's commitment to the park and recreation field. It proves compliance with a body of standards deemed essential to the quality of services delivered and the professionalism of its operational system, and of having accomplished the best management practices.

The Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of programs, classes, events and services for residents of all ages, seven days a week. Residents may choose from leisure activities, summer camp, educational and training seminars, fitness and athletics, teen and cultural activities.

The Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department strives to be the best. We have been recognized in several areas. Some awards received include City Livability Award, Communities for a Lifetime Award, Florence Goldman Award for Outstanding Senior Center, 2005 Facility Showcase Award for Sunset Point Park, and Beautification Awards for Caporella Park (1st Place) and Sunset Point Park (3rd Place).
