Hurricane Tip # 1

Residents should have adequate supplies of food and water to sustain their family for the first week or more following a hurricane.

Adequate foods that don’t need heating or refrigeration, and items easily opened manually.

These items should be purchased in advance of a storm; please note, you may already have these items in your kitchen.

Water and Food

WATER IS VERY IMPORTANT

Store three gallons of water per person per day.  It is not necessary to buy bottled water.

Use 2 liter bottles saved over time, fill with water,
(leave a small golf-ball sized air pocket for expansion), and place them into a freezer.
These can be used for cooling and drinking.
