FIRE PREVENTION WEEK
FIRE SAFETY ACTIVITIES
Tamarac Fire Rescue observes Fire Prevention Week throughout the month of October. Our program brings in children from Tamarac and surrounding municipalities. During 2003 over 800 children came into our Fire Station and participated in our program. Tamarac's Firefighters have developed a variety of activities including:
- A Video Presentation
- A Stop, Drop and Roll exercise
- An 'Exit Drill in the Home'(EDITH) practice
- A tour of a Fire Engine and Station
A drink and a snack are often provided by a local business and conclude the visit to the Fire Station.
In addition to our in-station programs, we also take the show on the road to schools with a Fire Safety Trailer designed to teach young children what to do and how to do it safely in the event of a fire in the home. This trailer is provided by the Fire Chief's Association of Broward County.
The trailer has visited to Tamarac Elementary, Challenger Elementary and Millenium Middle Schools, providing educational opportunities for another 600 to 700 children.
