Public Education Division

Tamarac Fire Rescue is dedicated to our community. Our dedication was demonstrated by the creation of a Public Educator position in May 2000. Because of this, Tamarac Fire Rescue is better able to reach the community with a variety of programs. Tamarac Fire Rescue prides itself on presenting programs for every age group. Our public education programs reach over 30,000 residents yearly.

Tamarac Fire Rescue has developed programs that are designed to meet the needs of our residents. Some of these programs include: Slip and Fall Prevention, Home Oxygen Use, Using 9-1-1 Properly, homeowner's association meetings, fire prevention programs for children and adults, hurricane preparedness and smoke detector installation, just to name a few.

The Public Educator is available to assist neighborhood communities with Fire Safety programs including fire drills.

The Public Education division is also responsible for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the NEW Tamarac Fire Rescue Cadet program.

You may find information about each of the programs discussed above by clicking on the subject on the left side of this page.

Community Interest

The Public Education Division is responsible for the Fire Prevention program. Each year, during the month of October, hundreds of children come through our doors for station tours and an educational program. In addition to the children that visit our station, we also take the show on the road. A fire safety trailer, provided by the Broward County Fire Chiefs Association, provides an educational opportunity to an additional 400+ children in our community.

Along with our commitment to provide services to Tamarac residents, we offer a variety of programs to the community. In late 2000, this division determined that there was a large number of slip and fall injuries within the City. Within days, work had begun on a Slip and Fall Prevention Program and a full day presentation was put together with the Parks and Recreation Department at Tamarac Community Center. In 2001, we delivered over 3,100 informational brochures to people in the community and numerous programs were presented throughout the community.

You may find information on Slip and Fall Prevention by clicking on the title on the left side of this page.

The Public Education Division is dedicated to providing programs that meet the needs of our residents and businesses.

You may reach the Public Educator at 954-597-3805.
