Fire Prevention Bureau
The Fire Prevention Bureau plays a critical role in providing for the safety of our residents. The basis for fire protection is established when the site development is proposed. Using the concepts of Engineering, Education and Enforcement, the Fire Prevention Bureau ensures the applicable fire protection features are available for structures starting with the site design and including construction classification, placement of fire hydrants, automatic fire suppression systems and life safety systems. Certain occupancy types and processes may require additional life safety provisions. Once the protection level is established, routine safety inspections are conducted to ensure continued compliance with the code requirements.
The lasting impact of this comprehensive program includes a reduced fire incident rate, reduced fire severity and increased safety for the community and firefighters.
Tamarac Fire Rescue has three fire inspectors assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau:
Division Chief/Fire Marshal Jeff Moral MPA CFO
Inspector Mark Micciche Senior Plan Examiner
Inspector Jesse Lapin-Bertone BPA CFPS CHS-III
Inspector Steven Weishaar Plans Reviewer
The Bureau currently operates at 6000 Hiatus Rd - Second Floor. You can contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at 954.597.3800

Sprinkler Contractors submitting their flow calculations shall be based on Drought Conditions.
To calculate using required Tamarac Fire Rescue Drought Conditions
Take a flow test data and establish slope of flow:
Example:
Static 70
Flow 55
Residual 60
Then utilize Static of 45 and using same slop established by field flow data, determine what the GPM will be with a residual of 20 psi. You then show both slopes on your submitted graph.
Sprinkler System should fall within limitations that allow for 20 psi residual for firefighting purposes.

False Alarm Campaign Moves into Second Year
According to the National Fire Protection Association, more than six thousand false fire alarms occur in the United States each day...and the number is increasing. Emailing a public service announcment directly to television stations is succeeding in getting the message out. According to producer, Richard Lambert, a 60 second PSA was posted online last February and fire departments throughout the country have participated in getting it aired.
Lambert says, "Over five hundred TV stations ran the PSA after receiving it by email and our online tracking shows that it's continuing." Lambert adds, "Fire departments everywhere are looking for ways to make their communities safer without adding expense. This PSA is a good tool for that."
