The Tamarac Finance Services Department mission is to professionally and responsibly manage the financial affairs of the City, to protect and further the City's strong financial reputation, and to effectively and efficiently provide related support services for residents and City operations.

There are five divisions within the Finance Department, each serving a vital function for the City.

The Accounting Division and Financial Reporting is responsible for providing the City with accurate, concise and timely internal and external financial information by recording the City's revenues and expenditures in order to be consistent with current governmental accounting standards, policies, and procedures. The Accounting Division has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Associaton for seventeen consecutive years. The division also administers the payroll for the City and pays the City's bills.

The Management and Budget Division provides financial planning and forecasting, program evaluation, budget monitoring, and management analysis services in support of City operations. The City's fiscal year runs from October 1 through September 30. The Management and Budget Division has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for the past five consecutive fiscal years.

The Customer Service Division's goal is to provide quality customer service to all City water and sewer customers and to provide cashiering services for the City.

The Administrative Division is responsible for financial management of the City, investments, debt management and finance department support.

The Purchasing and Contracts Division is responsible for the purchase of high quality goods and services at competitive prices while adhering to policies set forth by the City of Tamarac Charter and Code and State of Florida Statutes. This division interacts with vendors to resolve problems and expedite orders; facilitate pre-bid meetings, bid openings, evaluation committee meetings and make recommendations for bid and contract awards.

Collectively, our goal is to provide financial leadership to the City - leading to effective use of the City's financial resources and compliance with laws, rules, and best practices in the industry.
