City of Tamarac Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
What is a GIS and what is a GIS used for?
A GIS is a collection of the City's property map, utility maps and building maps that have data that describes each piece of property, utility or building in the City. A GIS is a more powerful extension of the City's maps. A user can locate data about a road, building, or piece of property. The result is that the research time is reduced, and a common source for data exists. The City has a better idea of what roads, utility lines and property the city is charged with maintaining.
Tamarac GIS History
The City began a comprehensive mapping project in 1995. In 1998, the first set of planimetric or above ground maps were delivered for use in a variety of construction, inventory and maintenance uses. In late 2003 the first interactive map page was developed, allowing city employees to access the map data without purchasing expensive map reading software. A similar version, accessible at the bottom of this page is now available for the general public.

General City of Tamarac Maps
The City of Tamarac provides general maps to the public. The City sells a generalized Street Map and a Zoning Map for $6 a copy. These maps can be purchased from the City Clerks Office located in the first floor of City Hall located at 7525 N.W. 88th Ave.
