HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
FLORIDA HOMEBUYER OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM (FHOP)
Applications for the Florida Homebuyer Opportunity Program (FHOP) to assist homebuyers with costs associated with purchasing a home will be available beginning Tuesday September 8, 2009.
Open Enrollment for submitting FHOP applications will be from October 5 – October 30, 2009.
Submit applications at City Hall room 106, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:30 pm.
ALL HOME PURCHASES MUST TAKE PLACE PRIOR TO DECEMBER 1, 2009, unless otherwise extended by the IRS and the City of Tamarac. To download an application (PDF) for the Florida Homebuyer Opportunity Program click here.

The City of Tamarac will not be receiving NSP2 funds at this time. There will be no Open Enrollment period scheduled as originally anticipated.

TAMARAC HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
The City of Tamarac administers home repair programs and a first time homebuyer program. Application cycles are announced as funding becomes available and are processed on a first come first serve basis. The programs are designed to assist current homeowners in Tamarac with needed repairs to maintain the structural integrity of their house and for those who desire to become homeowners within Tamarac. The programs are funded by the State of Florida through the SHIP program and by the Federal Housing and Urban Development Department through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investments Partnership (HOME) programs

Assistance Determination of eligibility for the various Housing Assistance Programs is based on income guidelines set by both the State and Federal funding agencies which provide the assistance monies to the City.

First Time Homebuyer / Down Payment Assistance
To assist with the purchase of a home. ( Maximum Award of $40,000)
The First Time Homebuyer program will be suspended until June 2010.
Owner Occupied Rehabilitation
For repair or rehabilitation to correct health and safety hazards in the property. (Maximum Award of $30,000)
Storm Shutter Assistance
For better storm preparation. (Maximum Award of $7,500)
Code Correction
To correct code violations. (Maximum Award of $10,000)
Disaster Mitigation (Hardening)
For exterior hardening of you property to prevent further damage from storms or disaster. (Maximum Award of $15,000)

- Applicants must meet the income requirements set by grant funding source(s).
- Property must be located within the City of Tamarac.
- Applicants required to sign a Recapture Document.
- Must be able to verify income and assets.
This property must be primary residence. |
