The Community Development Department is made up of four different but cohesive divisions, consisting of Housing, Business Revenue, Code Compliance, and Planning and Zoning. Each of these divisions come together to make every effort in maintaining a higher quality of life for those living, working and visiting Tamarac.

The City of Tamarac has experienced a significant shift in demographics, which is reshaping the City's image and approach to development. The City is continually growing younger by the year. From 1990 to 2000, the average age in Tamarac has dropped over 10 years with this trend continuing to present day.

Within the past several years, Tamarac has evolved into a growing community that welcomes development in all areas to improve its economic vitality. Tamarac's friendly environment makes it a prime location for relocating or opening a business and commercial and residential development.
